Exciting news for fans of HBO’s excellent vampire series True Blood - the very talented Evan Rachel Wood has been cast in a significant role for at least two episodes of the new season. Check out all the details and get a peek at a new teaser poster after the break…
We are definitely ready for blood, and so is Evan Rachel Wood apparently. TV rumors go-to guy Michael Ausiello over at Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Alan Ball has recruited Wood to play the pivotal role of Sophie-Anne, the vampire Queen of Louisiana. Sophie-Anne “is a 500-year-old vampire from France who is charming, wily, ruthless and wise. She’s a consummate diplomat who has (or had) many of history’s most famous people on speed dial”. I am a big fan of Evan and her work, so this is definitely a major scoop for the show and Alan Ball in my book.
Ausiello continues: “A True Blood insider tells me that Wood is booked for two episodes, both of which will air towards the end of the show’s upcoming second season. But rest assured, if the show is renewed for a third season (and, please, it will be), Wood will be back”. I don’t think there is any doubt that True Blood will back for a third season at the very least. It’s ratings grew stronger and stronger throughout the season and the critical acclaim has been almost universally positive.
Created by Alan Ball (Six Feet Under), Blood follows Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), a barmaid living in Louisiana who can read people’s minds, and how her life is turned upside down when Vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) walks into her place of employment two years after vampires ‘came out of the coffin’ on national television. True Blood also stars Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten, Rutina Wesley, Chris Bauer, Nelsan Ellis and Jim Parrack.
