‘The Hangover’ looks to be a rival to ‘Bruno’ for funniest film of the year so far. It should also make legitimate stars out of Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper (at last) and Zach Galifawhathisname (it’s Galifianakis). Check out the hilarious RedBand trailer for the film after the break…
“The Hangover” is a Las Vegas-set comedy centered around three groomsmen who lose their about-to-be-wed buddy during their drunken misadventures, then must retrace their steps in order to find him. Hilarity definitely ensues when said steps are taken.
The film is directed by “Old School” and “Road Trip” director Todd Phillips. Both of those films were funny, and “Old School Dos” (a sequel) is in production for a 2011 release. Starring in “The Hangover” are Bradley Cooper (”Alias”, “Nip/Tuck”, “Yes Man”), Ed Helms (”The Daily Show”, “The Office”) and Zac Galifianakis, who has numerous TV credits and is a legitimately hilarious stand up comedian. All three actors are sitting on the doorstep of big time stardom, especially Bradley Cooper, who has the good looks and versatility to cross-over more easily than Ed or Zach, but Ed has been fantastic on “The Office” and has been the only later-seasons cast addition who has secured himself a permanent fixture on the show, which is definitely saying something in a comedic star- factory like “The Office (US)” that attracts so many talented actors. It’s strange, but the most prominent role that sticks in my mind for Zach Galifianakis was a short stint on canceled TV series “Tru Calling”, in which he starred alongside “Dollhouse” actress Eliza Dushku. The role wasn’t very comedic, and Zach was charming and engaging, so again he also has the talent to get far more work on the big (or even, small) screen.
