Ezio Auditore da Firenze is a young Italian noble who will learn the ways of the assassins after his family was betrayed and he looks to seek vengeance. He is a lady’s man, a free soul with panache yet has a very human side too. Italy in the 15th century was less a country and more a collection of city-states where families with political and economic strength began to take leadership roles in cities like Florence and Venice. This journey through some of the most beautiful cities in the world takes place in a time in history where culture and art were born alongside some of the most auspicious stories of corruption, greed and murder.

I find it very difficult to find things about which to criticize Assassin’s Creed II as despite a couple of minor faults and a question of personal taste as to whether you will enjoy the storyline/theme of the game, it’s ultimately a remarkable, luscious, vivid and addictive gaming experience.

Once you get used to the complex controls beyond what’s basic, the game really does become rewarding. The first part of the game (the first hour or so of gameplay) does seem to move at a snail’s pace in certain parts, but for non-hardcore gamers it really does indeed demand that you become used to controlling the character fully in order to fully reap the benefits later on in the game.

This game is definitely another example of a high-end experience that you will indeed lose many hours to if you so wish to. A visual treat with enough brains to satisfy even the most demanding gamer.
